14 hour work day 6 days a week legal?

Hi! My husband recently started a new job and the employment contract doesn't state work hours. He works in construction which means he is supposed to adhere to site hours. The hours stated by his superiors seem a little excessive to me. He is required to work 14 hour days 7am to 9pm, 6 days a week AND alternate Sunday's at the same hours (this is the only overtime he is paid). Is this legal?
